Skilling Youth- SKY

Why

  • Only 5% of 365 million youth are skilled
  • 12.8 million youth enter the workforce every year, yet 53% jobs are lying vacant as employers are unable to find people with the right skills
  • About 63% of the school students drop out at different stages before reaching Class X primarily because of their difficult economic background.

We provide education and training in a wide range of service industries which includes foundation skills and skill specific training.

    To date, HELP Trust has provided Livelihood Training to 2140 young people and has helped them to achieve their aspirations by enabling them to acquire skills and encouraging them into employment or even to start their own enterprises. We help them to gain the tools and soft skills that they will need to give them the very best chance to succeed in their new life.

    People with Disablility

    Why

    • India has more than 20 million people with physical or learning disabilities and many of them live in poverty because they lack access to education and employment.
    • Only one 1% out of 5 million (15-35 years) Persons with Disabilities are employed
    • Discrimination and sterotyping continues to be a major challenge
    • Poor infrastructure that cannot accommodate disabled adjustments
    • 70% of the disabled population live in rural areas
    • 32% have basic literacy and only 13% have secondary and above education

    How

    We support young people with disabilities to gain skills in line with industry requirements. The program also integrates the promotion of an inclusive workforce by sensitizing employers to shift the focus from “disability” to “ability” when recruiting people with disabilities.
    Our Approach

    • Incentivise companies and organisations to employ more people with disabilities, ensuring employers have access to advice when they need it.
    • Acknowledgement that people with disabilites are equal and worthy contributors to society and as an employee
    • Promotes inclusiveness and nuturing a diverse workforce
    • Realisation of independence and better self-esteem
